Claustrophobia and consumption

It finally happened today. One of my worst nightmares. I got stuck in the elevator and couldn't get out. That has to be one of the worst feelings I've experienced in a long time. It felt like hours but was probably only minutes until I finally got the doors to open again. That was a good learning opportunity to remain calm and not freak out although it sure did rattle me!

My personal consumption of fast food and the resulting waste that comes out of it is making me feel horrible. Plastic, styrofoam, cardboard and disposable cutlery. I feel like I have generated so much waste this past month and I am only one out of thousands of students on this campus. Where does all the garbage go? Where are the recycling bins and re-useable plates and cutlery? And then there are always people who leave the taps on while brushing their teeth.

Dr. Condoleezza Rice's Global Briefing.
Dr. Condoleezza Rice spoke about international relationships between America and the rest of the world. She also spoke about being at university and taking courses that challenge a person to go outside their normal comfort zones and to take advantage of the privilege of being at university and seek out passions. I like it.
